iHeartRadio hits 60 million registered users as rapid growth continues

Streaming music service iHeartRadio has hit 60 million registered users, putting it among the biggest players in the market

iHeartRadio launched its Pandora-like streaming service in September 2011 — it had previously just broadcast radio online — and since then, has seen consistent user growth.

Backed by radio and advertising giant iHeartMedia, formerly known as Clear Channel Communications, that growth was thanks in part to letting listeners stream music on mobile devices without registering first.

iHeartMedia announced the numbers on Friday.
